Eight Cartoonists Draw in The Art in Cartooning

History for Sale offers an outstanding copy of The Art in Cartooning:  Seventy-five Years of American Magazine Cartoons. The collection was issued by the Cartoonists Guild in 1975. This copy contains original drawings by eight cartoonists: George Booth, Dana Fradon, Mort Gerberg, Sam Gross, Marvin Tannenberg, Gahan Wilson, Bill Woodman, and Jack Ziegler. The drawings were made for a recipient named Charles in March of 1976. The drawings by Ziegler, Tannenberg, and Woodman are somewhat connected. On another page, Wilson, Booth, and Gross each made cat drawings, closely-related except for the fact that Mr. Booth's cat is not dead. The book is available for $1,999 but if you mention me you can have it for $1,799. Or even if you don't.

Note:  This is the first copy of The Art in Cartooning to appear on this blog, but I'd love to show other unique copies. Please send in pictures with interesting signatures, inscriptions, or drawings. This is also the first appearance here of Marvin Tannenberg and Bill Woodman. I've been lax, I know.

The aqua links will take you to more books with original drawings as well as additional blog posts about George Booth, Dana Fradon, Mort Gerberg, Sam Gross, Gahan Wilson, and Jack Ziegler. Do me a favor and make sure all these links work.
