Christmas Tree Chase: R. O. Blechman Preliminary New Yorker Cover Art

A Christmas tree chasing an axe is the simple yet unlikely subject matter of a 1988 New Yorker cover by R. O. Blechman. The preliminary cover art was offered by Swann Galleries in January where it did not sell. In this case, the rough art is very similar to but just a little looser than the final published version.

There are two shopping days left to check out my Christmas posts.

Meanwhile, it's now winter!
