Ronald Searle: George Washington Never Slept in These

Ronald Searle created this original advertising artwork for Allen Solly & Co., Ltd., purveyor of fine hosiery. The British company was trying to break into the upscale American market in 1951 with an advertising campaign in the New Yorker.
