Peter Arno: Whoops Dearie! Signed and with a Dust Jacket

New Yorker cartoonist Peter Arno must have signed a great many copies of Whoops Dearie! (1927) because today such copies are not all that hard to come by in the market. The book, Arno's first, is a novel featuring his popular characters the Whoops Sisters. It was ghostwritten by Philip Wylie. A few signed copies have appeared on this blog before, but none of them have managed to retain their original dust jacket—until now. A signed copy currently on AbeBooks has a dust cover, albeit with significant losses, yet the front cover image remains pretty much intact. The sisters are seen in a bookshop stealing a glance at their own book and laughing uproariously to the point where one sister is falling over, and rather cartoonishly at that. The book, which originally sold for $1.75, is offered by Banjo Booksellers at $49 plus shipping.
