DeleteI like your caption. Too bad Colin didn't give you a ring. I didn't get anywhere with mine: "Go rustle up some Rocky Mountain oysters." (I think Rocky Mountain oysters are out of season at The New Yorker). I wonder what Michael Maslin originally submitted as the caption? (Quit horsing around)?
ReplyDeleteColin never calls, which is about as often as Rocky Mountain oysters appear on my dinner plate. I know that sometimes Michael Maslin creates drawings for the Caption Contest without an original caption.
ReplyDeleteMankoff says that the contest cartoons are rejected normal cartoons, but I've suspected that some (maybe most?) of them are made specifically for the contest. They always have an incongruity, whereas the regular ones rarely do.
DeleteIs a phone call the way you find out if you are a finalist? I thought it was an email.
I believe it is a phone call, but then I've never been on the receiving end...
