The CartoonStock Cartoon Caption Contest No. 171

It's time for some good clean fun with the CartoonStock Caption Contest #171. A musician takes the stage along with a washer and dryer. The rules of the monthly cash prize contest haven't changed of late: five dollars still buys up to three and only three entries. Real cash prizes are $500 for first place and $100 for each of five runners up. As of this writing, I've put $80 into the first sixteen pay-to-play contests and this seventeenth one brings my cash outlay up to $85. But I've won $200 in previous contests, so I'm still doing very well. In fact, so few contestants enter that the odds are actually quite good. "May the odds be ever in your favor" applies here as well as in The Hunger Games, maybe more so here. My three entries are shown below, above the break. The cartoonist is Ivan Ehlers.

The CartoonStock Caption Contest #154

In a new disappointment, the CartoonStock Caption Contest #154 seems to have ended prematurely, an example of the brand's all-too-frequent carelessness. A new contest, now with a thousand dollar prize, is announced for June 7, an unprecedented reward but also an unprecedented delay. My last-minute entries planned for this month never got polished or submitted; only two of my anticipated three entries are shown below. The drawing is by Kaamran Hafeez.

"No, I've never fixed one of these. Before the apocalypse, I worked for Maytag."
"I heard you were having some trouble with it, so I brought over my tool."

My Entry in The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest #719—Almost

It's open house for my non-entry in The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest #719 dated August 10, 2020. I did not get around to entering what I wrote. The drawing is by Jeremy Nguyen.

"The seller lost too many socks."

These captions just weren't clean enough:

"It's just pop architecture. The laundromat is around the corner."
"You'll need a lot of coins."
"They're both washers. On the roof there's a clothesline."
"I can have you in it for pocket change."
"As you can see, it has every convenience."
"You don't need to bring your dirty clothes inside."
"Would you like to take it for a spin?"

Here is my entry for the New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest #424 for April 21, 2014. The drawing is provided by Tom Cheney and the caption is by me.

"I still say we should do the laundry at my mother's."

Here are a few other captions I came up with that I didn't use:

"Next time, hallucinate a refrigerator."
"The good news is we don't need a dryer."
"Maybe this is your idea of an oasis."
