In September an eBay seller offered an original cartoon by Peter Arno with an opening bid of only $100 or a Buy It Now price of $300. The only information given in the description is "Humorous New Yorker Cartoon." There is only one photo:
So once you've seen the ad, you realize that this original appears to be very tightly framed, with the edges of the artwork cut off on all sides. The lone photo we are given is extremely tightly cropped as well. Why? Are we looking at a frame around the border or the inner edge of a matte? Has the artwork been trimmed or does a matte extend for a few inches in each direction? Is there any reflective glass here? It is difficult to tell much about what we're looking at.
