Andreas Brown's Copy of the Incorrect First State of Amphigorey Also by Edward Gorey

Six copies of Amphigorey Also (1983), Edward Gorey's third omnibus collection—after Amphigorey (1972) and Amphigorey Too (1975)—were misbound in decorative paper over boards rather than in decorative cloth over boards. Gorey, in his inscription of one of these volumes to the Gotham Book Mart's Andreas Brown, describes it as "this rare incorrect first state," a term that to me seems to come from printmaking rather than from bookbinding.

Gorey's inscription to Brown makes this the most interesting copy of this rarity available online but, surprisingly, it is no longer the most expensive copy. This is:
