The New York Mets came on the scene in 1962, bringing National League baseball back to New York after the departures of the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Giants for California. Initially referred to as "the lovable losers," they won the hearts of their fans long before they won any championships. In 1965, Bill Adler collected Love Letters to the Mets illustrated by George Price. A copy offered on eBay gives us a sporting peek at the contents. Back in 1965, no one could have guessed that the ragtag team would somehow win the World Series in 1969.
