Begging at the Table: Garrett Price Original New Yorker Cover Art

The experts say it's never a good idea to feed a dog begging for table scraps. But then, how can you not? As life was getting back to normal in the Post-War period, Garrett Price created a sunny and delightful al fresco scene for the cover for the New Yorker. The dog's begging is witnessed only by the diner he is targeting—and, of course, by us. Price gave the original watercolor to fellow artist George Bertrand Mitchell.
