Barbara Shermund: Island Girl

Original color art by Barbara Shermund includes stamps on the back from the King Features Syndicate library at 235 East 45th Street in New York. Pencil annotations indicate it was published in Pictorial Review, here abbreviated PR, in 1952, no doubt a part of her regular Shermund's Sallies feature. This particular Sally is shipwrecked on a desert island with an eager young man.

"I suppose, Mr. Clancy, I'm just not the chatty type."

Detail

The eBay seller who sold this piece last week is overly fond of photographing art at an angle, to no apparent purpose.

Note:  This cartoon should be one of two that appeared in Shermund's Sallies published in Pictorial Review for September 14, 1952. I don't have a copy of this seventy-year-old newspaper insert at the ready. Can any reader help a landlocked blogger out by forwarding scans or photos of the relevant page?
