Ben Yagoda Reviews Lee Lorenz, 1995

Ben Yagoda is the author of About Town:  The New Yorker and the World It Made (New York: Scribner, 2000). In 1995, while he was working on the book, he reviewed The Art of The New Yorker, 1925-1995,  Lee Lorenz's magnum opus, for the Times Book Review.

"It Was Never Spinach," Ben Yagoda, The New York Times Book Review, October 22, 1995

  1. I always find enjoyment & education here. Thank you.

May I ask, perhaps nit-pickingly: if "since 1993, the art editor has been responsible only for covers and the cartoon editor has been responsible only for cartoons" then who is responsible for the spot drawings, other illustrations, logos, layout and the other "art" stuff?

    1. You're welcome, John. Spot drawings and internal illustrations are the responsibility of illustration editor Christine Curry.
