My Entry in the New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest #524

Here  is my entry in the New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest #524 for May 30, 2016. The drawing is by Zachary Kanin.

"You know you can breathe fire, right?"

I dueled with these potential captions as well:
"Actually, my game is backgammon."
"You should have paid attention in dragon school."
"Now to finish you off before the fire-breathing round."
"If I don't kill you, smoking will."

June 13, 2016 Update:  The Finalists

June 20, 2016 Update:  I voted for the third caption.

June 27, 2016 Update:  Winning Caption

Note:  Last week Joe Dator opened up a giant barrel of monkeys and I said, "Everybody's got something to hide except for me and my caption." Peel open the result of Contest #523.

Zachary Kanin has done battle with this blog before.

  1. Another very specific cartoon. You need to address that the dragon is using a sword, which you've done. Mine: "Don't forget about the outdoor smoking ban." But once again I think I was slightly outdone. This time by someone whose caption mentioned a "firearm ban".
