This original 1912 photograph by Eugène Atget of the Port de l'Hôtel de Ville in Paris was offered for sale at Christie's New York on October 6, 2011. I'm fascinated by Atget's photographs of Paris as a body of visually compelling documentary work, although this particular one frustrates me a bit. I find I want to have a different view and see under the bridge. I believe my attitude is an example of not accepting art on its own terms.
