Moat Not Included

Arribas Brothers, Cinderella Castle
These first two photos shown here were taken by me at Crystal Arts in Walt Disney World back in March of 2008. This shows Cinderella Castle done up nice in Swarovski crystal. A little research shows that you're looking at 28,255 hand-set crystals. And, as you can see from the price tag, it can be yours for just $37,500!

Now I originally suspected this was displayed more for show than for sale, and perhaps it is, but then I learned that the edition size is 50! Yes, I went and looked it up:

Clearly, this means the folks involved are serious about selling more than just a handful of these! Throughout the world there are five Disney theme parks. Could they then expect to sell, say, ten in each? Is such a thing possible? Or is this only offered for sale in Walt Disney World?

Or are these destined, rather, to end up as fancy decorations in Disney hotels or corporate offices? Could they one day possibly become very expensive gifts to a select few Disney executives? Does Disney offer these as gifts to Hollywood's elite? Or perhaps there might be a few artist's proofs or some additional unnumbered examples already set aside for such purposes, beyond the regular edition size. Does anyone reading this post know of anyone who owns this castle? Are they individually numbered? I have no idea where these questions might lead. By all means let me know what you think.

Note:  My post on Disney's "America Sings" is here.

  2. As long as the Prince has a valid credit card, that should be no problem! But why not have him spring for a real palace too?

  3. Saw this castle at WDW yesterday and asked I they had ever sold any. Yes, 16 since 2004, Impressive I think!

    1. That's fascinating, Nikki M! At this rate, the edition of 50 should sell out by 2035, maybe sooner if the economy picks up.
