Edward Gorey: Das Unglück-selige Kind Signed by Wolfgang Hildesheimer
Some titles are hard to resist. Among the more compelling German language books I have come across is Das Unglück-selige Kind by Edward Gorey, here in translation by Wolfgang Hildesheimer who signed the book in 1988. The German writer has been on my radar since I performed in a one-act play of his as a college freshman. (Sorry if you missed "The Sacrifice of Helen.") Gorey has been on my radar longer, since high school if not earlier. In English, the Gorey book is more familiar as The Hapless Child.
