McElligot's Pool

Here we have a prized first edition copy of McElligot's Pool (1947) by Dr. Seuss which includes an original drawing of a fish by the good doctor. The drawing of "an Onak fish" is dedicated to the Onak family. It appears that traces of  pencil remain underneath the ink drawing.

  1. I have a 1947 special edition of this book. Where would be a good start to see about appraising and selling?

    1. You can first educate yourself by searching for similar items on Google, AbeBooks.com, and eBay. Remember, condition is important. If I were selling such a book, I would look to a local auction house with a good reputation that conducts regular sales of rare books. I'm fond of Swann Galleries in New York, Heritage in Dallas, and Bonhams in California (and elsewhere), to name just a few with international reputations.
