Barney Tobey: Santa at Sea

A printed color Christmas card designed by cartoonist Barney Tobey gives us Santa Claus making a special delivery. He is rowing to a lighthouse on his own without a reindeer in sight. We see the beam catching him full on. The card, signed by its sender, has lost its envelope and bears no date.

Richard Oldden: Call Me George

The final quartet of original drawings by Richard Oldden were sold on eBay earlier this month. The artist visits several well-traveled cartoon tropes and puts a new twist on each of them. One of the gags is wordless and in four panels on two sheets of paper. We aren't told where any of the cartoons were published.

Hermès Belles Amures Scarf

The Belles Amures silk scarf was designed by Loïc Dubigeon for Hermès in 2002. The scarf features sailing ships, lighthouses, and the points of a compass. There are also some nautical knots. The scarf exists in several color combinations.

Cape Cod 2020

We arrived at Cape Cod on Sunday, July 5. The following day, Massachusetts went into Phase 3 of Reopening and we were able to dine inside at some restaurants. We were based in Chatham for the week. We had to lower our expectations this year, yet we enjoyed ourselves as much as any other summer in the Cape.
