Shannon Wheeler: Murder Mystery

In 2019, Cartoon Collections (now CartoonStock) consigned a number of pieces of original New Yorker cartoon art to Swann Auction Galleries for their semiannual Illustration Art sale. Among them was this gem from Shannon Wheeler:

The Cartoon Collections Caption Contest #113

It's beach season already in the Cartoon Collections Caption Contest #113. My three entries are below. The drawing is by Carolita Johnson.

"I'm afraid I haven't a clue."
"It's not just you. Your Mom can't solve me either."
"If you're stuck, try the sudoku on my butt."

This caption would have made a fine acrostic:

"I was watching an obnoxious Liberty Mutual ad when 5 Down 'Flightless bird' suddenly came to me."
