My Entry in The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest #873

Is that Mr. Potato Head on the doctor's examining table again? I feel as if I've already given The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest #873 from the issue of November 6, 2023 the old college try. Maybe you recall my failed captioning attempt last month for the MDLinx Comic Consult #11, a nearly identical scenario, here. I decided to take a new approach befitting the more refined style of Paul Noth in The New Yorker. My caption is shown below.

"You seem well put together."

MDLinx Comic Consult #11

The MDLinx Comic Consult is a caption contest open only to the medical community. Prizes are a $100 Amazon gift card for first place, and four $50 gift cards for up to four runners up. This is contest #11—the third I'm trying—and it features a physician with a patient you may recognize as Mr. Potato Head. Five entries are permitted; mine are shown below. The cartoon is by Jonny Hawkins.

"Let's see if we can turn that frown upside down."
"First I need to rearrange my schedule, then your face."
"I'm a general surgeon. What you need is a plastic surgeon."
"How many times do I have to sort you out?"
"You have blight, but it's early."

"Why can't the two of you see eye to eye?"
"How is Mrs. Potato Head guilty of patent infringement?"

"Take off that innocent face."

The 2005 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

These photos of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade were taken by me on November 24, 2005 from an apartment overlooking Columbus Circle in New York City. The high vantage point will be unfamiliar to most viewers. It gives a good sense of the scale of the event, and it's great to see how many people enjoy the parade from viewing stands, balconies, windows, and the street. These photos and videos represent only a small selection of the balloons and floats and they were taken during the latter part of the Parade that day.
