Yesterday I made my first visit to the High Line, a park built on the former site of an elevated New York Central Railroad spur on the west side of Manhattan. The once-dilapidated structure has been developed into a beautiful and well-maintained greenway. I walked south from the Hudson Yards in the West 30s through Chelsea to the Meatpacking District. After the High Line, I headed over to Little Island, part of the Hudson River Park.

It was great to attend the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks this year, now back on the East River. These photographs and videos were taken at Waterside Plaza in Manhattan. The party music which can be heard playing is not the official soundtrack to which the fireworks were synchronized.
