Love is in the air this week. On that score, a 1990 New Yorker cartoon by Leo Cullum bears the title Critics in Love. In 2000 the original drawing was consigned by the artist to Impolitic Cartoon Commentaries of Santa Monica not too far from Mr. Cullum's hometown of Malibu. Impolitic handled mostly editorial cartoon originals and is now defunct. The original art went to eBay in early 2017. Initially offered at $550, the price was soon lowered to $450. A lowball $200 Best Offer was met with a counteroffer of $300 which was accepted.
