In June 1938, this was the book to buy: Action Comics No. 1! Surely you know this comic book! Take a look at this listing from Heritage Auctions. Action Comics No. 1 is by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. It was the very first Superman comic book, and indeed, it told the story of the very first superhero, the Man of Steel
Sure I agree with Mr. Overstreet that this is "the most important comic book ever published." Here's my reasoning: without Action Comics No. 1, we don't have Superman. Without Superman, we don't have the modern superhero. Without the modern superhero, we have nothing to make movies about. Seriously, consider what I'm saying. Without the likes of Superman, Thor, the Green Lantern, the Avengers, Batman, the X-Men, Iron Man, the Fantastic Four, the Incredible Hulk, and Spider-Man what on earth would we be making movies about today? Relationships?
