Roz Chast: Three More Signed Books

Roz Chast's books always seem to be extremely popular, so it is a bit of a mystery why signed copies of some of them have been selling in the ten-dollar range of late on eBay. In a sale posted on August 9, three signed first editions, all first printings, were offered for sale at $29.99 plus shipping. The books are of fairly recent vintage, none published more than seven years ago. All three seem to be in excellent condition. A best offer of $23.99 was rejected automatically, but two days later the seller countered with an offer of $25, not all that much higher, which the buyer promptly accepted.

My Copy of Patricia Marx and Roz Chast's You Can Only Yell at Me for One Thing at a Time: Rules for Couples

Patty Marx won me over with her novel Him Her Him Again the End of Him (2007), a hilarious sendup of contemporary relationships and, as a bonus, academic pretense. Roz Chast has been one of the New Yorker's most original cartoonist voices for more than four decades. Last year the two collaborated on the book Why Don't You Write My Eulogy Now So I Can Correct It? A Mother's Suggestions published in time for Mother's Day gift giving. This year their new collaboration is You Can Only Yell at Me for One Thing at a Time: Rules for Couples published—lo and behold!—in time for Valentine's Day. I ordered my copy just before Strand's January 14 signing and it has been delivered via mail signed by both women and...dogeared.

My Copy of Patricia Marx and Roz Chast's Why Don't You Write My Eulogy Now So I Can Correct It?

I found my doubly-signed copy of Why Don't You Write My Eulogy Now So I Can Correct It?  A Mother's Suggestions (2019) by Patricia Marx and Roz Chast strictly by chance at Strand Bookstore in New York. Copies were neatly stacked in a pile in the comics and cartoons section. I had missed the actual signing, of course, and the presentation that goes with it. For those who prefer not to miss out on what is certain to be an entertaining discussion, the authors will be appearing again tonight at Strand to launch their latest book You Can Only Yell at Me for One Thing at a Time: Rules for Couples.
