Last week I attended a funeral service at Sharon Gardens in Valhalla, New York. In the waiting area, I was surprised to see a display about artists buried in the sprawling Kensico Cemetery. Included were the great Al Hirschfeld and Peter Arno, cartoonists well known to readers of this blog.

I love Arno's signature on the headstone. I assume it was forged. And Hirschfeld's features a beautiful drawing. I hope I can visit & pay my respects some day.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Arno didn't chisel it himself, if that's what you mean.
