H. O. Hofman: Horse Stall Neighbors

Illustrator H. O. Hofman's delightful drawing of a pair of horses in adjoining stalls was apparently published as a spot for The New Yorker in 1926. According to Ink Spill, Hofman's work appeared in the magazine between 1925 and 1927. The illustration was mistakenly called a print in an auction listing this week. The $350 sale price is impressive for a spot, but understandable given the appeal of Hofman's work.
