Birthday Bloggery Musical Theme

"Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll:  Too Young to Die!" (1976) by Jethro Tull, is featured in a typically tasteless but amusing video from "Slipstream" (1980):

Note:  My last Jethro Tull post appeared at the last solstice. Coincidence?

  1. Loved it! Terrific video, great song. Coincidence?
    Probably not.

  2. Thanks, Leo! I know it's not my usual blog fare...

  3. I can't tell you how many times I've watched that Tull video and shared it. It's the most joyous performance of any band that I've witnessed in a long time. Ian Anderson's body language and facial expressions are riveting. He is truly one with him music. And he is still rocking with a 2012 tour beginning on 2/24 through June. So, you're never too old to Rock & Roll, and it was a great way to celebrate Attempted Bloggery's birthday. With that said, let me add my wishes for long life to your wonderful blog and you. Leo

  4. And to think that I had misgivings about posting this! When I'm in doubt, I stay true to myself and it usually works out. It's when I try to guess what others will want to see here that I usually go astray.

Thank you again, Leo. I know I've said this before, but you are indeed one in a billion. I know you're a diehard Dylan fan, but I just wasn't expecting this kind of enthusiasm for Ian and the gang.

Attempted Bloggery will be one year old on June 23. I was celebrating the blogger's birthday, not the blog's.

  5. Well I never! It was was only yesterday that I was luxuriating in 'Aqualung' and 'Witches Promise' ...

  6. Obviously, Professor, you are a man of refined tastes. Actually, "The Witch's Promise" is new to me, as I don't think it was on my Benefit LP. So, thanks for that.

Thanks also for leaving the blog's 200th comment! (I leave about half the comments myself.)

  7. Well what can I say? I feel truly honoured to have brought up the double century. Might I suggest that you celebrate the event by investing in a copy of 'Rockband 2' - my offspring have it for the Xbox - where you can play bass, drums, guitar or vocal line to none other than Mr Tull's Aqualung itself! Great fun!!

  8. Alas, Pepper, my sad experience with Guitar Hero has taught me that I'm not coordinated enough to even consider this!
