Two by Jean Dufy

Skinner of Boston is offering two beautiful gouaches by Jean Dufy on September 9. Both, but particularly the first, have an equestrian theme. Both depict desirable French locales.

I like Jean Dufy's paintings very much. I am someone with more of an intuitive understanding of drawing than of painting, and Dufy helps me to bridge the two media conceptually as he appears to me to be drawing with his paintbrush.

  1. Lovely paintings thank you! I am a fan of Jean Dufy, there is a softness in his paintings his more famous brother Raoul often lacks. Why was he overlooked? Was it the similarities? 1. You're welcome, Normandy Thenandnow. Thanks for the link. Jean Dufy's paintings have such vitality to them, don't they?
