My Entry in The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest #861

The Earps and Doc Holliday couldn't make it to The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest #861 from the issue of August 14, 2023. My caption is shown below. The drawing is by Tom Toro.

"So Tombstone is fresh out of guns AND wickets?"

These captions couldn't shoot straight:

"No harm in them both bringing a mallet to a gunfight."
"Why did they want us as seconds?"

My Entry in The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest #718

Come take a ride with my entry in The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest #718 for July 27, 2020. The drawing is by Michael Maslin.
"I thought today we'd just loaf around."

These captions didn't have enough horsepower.
"Which color is supposed to be lucky?"
"Of course they're supposed to match."
"We don't ride together unless we match."

August 10, 2020 Update:  The Finalists

August 17, 2020 Update:  I voted with Santa Barbara, because horses don't have feet and these shoes don't have laces. My caption made clear I believe they're loafers.

August 24, 2020 Update:
  The Winner

Note:  Last week in the Caption Contest, cartoonist Lonnie Millsap showed us that apartment life could be something of a zoo. My caption just didn't reach high enough. See what was up with Contest #717.

My Entry in The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest #705

Skip your morning coffee and ponder my entry in The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest #705 for April 13, 2020. The drawing is by Julia Suits.

"Tell me again why we had to rob that Starbucks."

This caption didn't wake up yet:
"I guess I'll be taking a raincheck on that double cappuccino."

April 27, 2020 Update:
  I voted with Modesto.

May 4, 2020 Update:
  The Winner

Note:  In last week's Caption Contest, cartoonist John Klossner took us to an elevator with two sousaphonists. My caption was a bit claustrophobic. Still, you should go and enjoy the music with Contest #704. Me, I'll wait for the CD.
