A 1974 letter from Ronald Searle conveys slightly belated birthday wishes from him and Monica to Jean Ellsmoor, Searle's former secretary. The letter was typed and illustrated by Searle as only he could. It is available from Chris Beetles Gallery in London.

Note:  The film Searle refers to in the letter is "Dick Deadeye" (1975), an animated travesty, I'm sorry to say, for which Searle provided brilliant character design and backgrounds. Birthday Boop

Today, friends, is the birthday of my dear wife! So happy birthday to my woman, the icing on my cake. Here too is an additional birthday greeting which I'd like to dedicate to my own personal blonde bombshell courtesy of the curvaceous brunette Betty Boop. Yes, naturally I prefer blondes, but if I had to pick a brunette, Betty would certainly do. Incidentally, Leslie Cabarga's sexy original greeting card art sold pretty cheaply, it seems to me.
