Heritage Auctions Signature Prints & Multiples Sale New York Preview, April 2026

On April 23, 2026, Heritage Auctions will hold a sale of Prints & Multiples in Dallas. A reception was held at the house's Park Avenue gallery space on Wednesday to preview some of the art for us locals. I went there to see the illustration art on display but I ended up photographing four prints as well. Why not live life to the fullest?

Genocide by Damien Hirst

The title of this work by Damien Hirst is Genocide. The unusual medium, just so you don't miss it, is flies and resin on canvas. This was offered for sale at Christie's New York in a November 2009 sale with an estimate of $200,000 to $300,000. It was either unsold then or, less likely, withdrawn. It is being offered now by Christie's as a private sale. This may be a way of avoiding further negative publicity for a work by a major artist that failed to find a buyer at auction. Damien Hirst's Spin on Supreme Skate Decks

For me, Damien Hirst's spin art series is difficult to evaluate in the context of fine art. How does it materially differ from the spin art created by anyone else at a carnival or street fair? Here Hirst has created three limited edition designs for Supreme skateboard decks based on his spin art. Unfortunately, the size of the edition is unknown, so the collector who bought these can't really be certain how many more are out there. Would it be reasonable to assume that virtually none of these skate decks were actually used for skateboarding?
