Kelly Lange's Copy of Deeper Into Movies by Pauline Kael

New Yorker film critic Pauline Kael's fourth collection of reviews, Deeper Into Movies, was the 1973 winner of the National Book Award in Arts and Letters. A copy of the book belonging to KNBC television news personality Kelly Lange was sold in June on eBay. Kael's inscription suggests that Lange had the copy in her possession well before it was signed.

Chwast's Groucho

Seymour Chwast is a superb graphic designer and a founder of Push Pin Studios. His limited edition serigraph of comedian Groucho Marx from the 1980's recently sold on eBay is new to me. Groucho's features are simplified into geometric shapes. Sharp angles are set against wavy diagonal lines at the top and straight diagonals at the bottom. I like the way Groucho's name is formed from his cigar smoke.
