J. C. Duffy: "I Never Forget a Face"

J. C. Duffy's original cartoon was published in the New Yorker in 2004 and sold on eBay by the artist just this year. The gag is set at a bar and begins with a common cliché, but then it takes an unexpected turn.
"Wait. I never forget a face...Easter Island, 1722!"

Cartoons from The New Yorker 2017 Calendar

Today in my local Barnes & Noble I spotted the Cartoons from The New Yorker 2017 Calendar. Pictured on the outside of the box is a modern masterpiece by cartoonist Jack Ziegler. On the inside, who knows?

November 6, 2016 Update:  My wife bought me a copy.

Note:  Jack Ziegler is the subject of a brand new interview on Ink Spill. Catch Part 1 and Part 2.

I'm always looking for original artwork, souvenirs, doodles, and variants by Jack Ziegler and others of his ilk. If you've got something you'd like to share publicly, get in touch. Did I really just say ilk?

My Entry in The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest #396,

Here is my latest entry in The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest for September 23, 2013. The cartoon is provided by Joseph Farris. The caption is provided by me.

"There goes my view of the obelisk!"

Here are a few other captions I also considered:
"But next week's trip to Easter Island is nonrefundable!"
"Stop staring at me!"
"But it's way too soon for the Bloomberg Monument!"

Speaking of caption contests, I am at this very moment a finalist in Moment magazine's Cartoon Caption Contest. Voting closes October 10, so there's still plenty of time for you to vote for your favorite entry! Find out what really goes on in the animal research lab here.
