And Sempé's fans showed their appreciation. The online bidding at Heritage Auctions was appropriately festive, reaching $3800 twelve hours before the sale.

And by the close of the auction on November 4, the hammer price of Soir de Fêtes reached $5,500 or nearly $7,000 with the buyer's premium.
