If you were to commission a drawing from
Charles Addams circa 1944, what would you ask for? This pleasant dilemma was faced by an Army friend of Addams fan Sam Marcus, who asked the cartoonist to dedicate a drawing to his friend. Addams's most famous cartoon at that time may well have been his drawing of a skier published in the
New Yorker in 1940. Thus a personalized variant of this drawing was requested.
