Cases of COVID-19 were on the rise in Provincetown this summer, and it made the television news. On July 15, the day when these photographs were taken, a bus was in the town center to administer COVID-19 vaccines. Right by this bus were some demonstrators with signs spreading all sorts of disinformation about the vaccine.

"Safe & Effective" The bus, at least, is truthful |
The misspelling of rescind is the least troublesome thing about these signs. In the seven weeks from when this photograph was taken to when it was posted here, the FDA fully approved the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for those over age 12. It is to be marketed as Comirnaty. That is unlikely to have changed the opinion of those who brought the signs. It may have changed a sign or two, though. |
Extreme disinformation. By the way, this sign does not seem to be limiting itself to COVID-19 vaccines. |
Censorship? Cures, plural? The health care industry would love to have an effective treatment and be able to return to business as usual. |
More signs of the times? The Nuremberg Code sets out the ethics of medical trials in humans. The implication is that the vaccine is experimental. It is not. The second sign should be clarified with current, accurate information from the CDC's website: "Reports of death after COVID-19 vaccination are rare. More than 369 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered in the United States from December 14, 2020, through August 30, 2021. During this time, VAERS [Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System] received 7,218 reports of death (0.0020%) among people who received a COVID-19 vaccine. FDA requires healthcare providers to report any death after COVID-19 vaccination to VAERS, even if it’s unclear whether the vaccine was the cause. Reports of adverse events to VAERS following vaccination, including deaths, do not necessarily mean that a vaccine caused a health problem. A review of available clinical information, including death certificates, autopsy, and medical records, has not established a causal link to COVID-19 vaccines. However, recent reports indicate a plausible causal relationship between the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine and TTS, a rare and serious adverse event—blood clots with low platelets—which has caused deaths pdf icon" |
