Superman made his debut in Action Comics #1 in 1938. His first appearance in a novel followed just four years later in 1942. The Adventures of Superman was written by George Lowther and illustrated by Joe Shuster, who created the iconic superhero with his friend Jerry Siegel. A first edition signed and inscribed by the author to one Edward is currently offered on AbeBooks. It is no doubt a rarity and is priced at $4000.
