Cape Cod 2022: Sand Sculpture Trail

The thirty-two sand sculptures which appeared this summer all around Yarmouth are pleasing to come across. Sean Fitzpatrick of Fitzysnowman Studios is the sculptor. They're fragile, short-lived creations and some damage may already be visible. I got to photograph only a few, but an online trail map makes it feasible to visit them all—while they stand.

No. 29 on the map, "Keeping It Reel," near the Edward Gorey House and the Capt. Bangs Hallet House

No. 19 on the map, outside Hearth 'n Kettle

The sand sculptures in Cuffy's are from the same studio, but they are not part of the trail. The characters are designed by Cuffy's. The sculptures should last longer indoors.

Cape Cod 2022: Little Sandy Pond

Cape Cod 2022: Yarmouth

This year, we rented a home in South Yarmouth for our summer excursion to the Cape. This allowed us to explore some new territory over two weeks in August. But we were not alone. Museums and attractions were crowded. The food, as always, was very good, but wait times were often an hour or more. This was compounded by a shortage of staff in many restaurants. Thus photographs here of the beach as well as of the Whydah Pirate Museum were taken while waiting for dinner. You might even say they're from hunger.

There's a pirate dangling over this shark, but I didn't get him in the shot. Still, you can see him at the top of the photo above.
