Stephen Kroninger's Copy of The World of Hirschfeld

Caricaturist Al Hirschfeld's The World of Hirschfeld was published in 1970. On July 18, 1998, illustrator Stephen Kroninger brought him a copy of the book to sign. Hirschfeld more than complied. He signed and drew two of his unmistakeable hands pointing from the dedication to the signature and from the signature to the date, giving a nice flow to the half-title page.

Note:  Once again my thanks and appreciation to Stephen Kroninger who, when he's not creating masterful collages, photographs books and pictures from his collection and sends them to me to mull over on the blog. This is his forty-first contribution to Attempted Bloggery.

Let us not forget that Al Hirschfeld's birthday is June 21, 1903. He passed away in 2003 at age ninety-nine.

A Walt Disney Sketch of Mickey Mouse

So many purported Walt Disney autographs were actually signed by his personnel that it's refreshing to see an autograph penned by Disney himself when he was away visiting his family in Ireland, far from the usual studio set of secretaries and animators. Of course, it's all the better that there is a drawing included of the world's most beloved mouse.

Note:  Readers in possession of their own autograph albums this breathtaking, or nearly so, might want to make other readers envious by sending a few heartbreakingly beautiful scans to Attempted Bloggery. My readers can take it.

Irving Berlin's Easter Parade

Judy Garland and Fred Astaire prepare to step out onto Fifth Avenue in all their finery at the conclusion of MGM's "Easter Parade" (1948). Now if only Irving Berlin would write a great song to go with this.
