I don't at all like the title of Security is a Thumb and a Blanket by Charles M. Schulz. The 1963 book's title deservedly never caught on the way the title of Schulz's first book Happiness is a Warm Puppy did in 1962. Notwithstanding, the term security blanket has done pretty well for itself even if it wasn't exclusively Schulz's. But what I do like here is the original drawing of Linus that Schulz made in a copy of the book and inscribed to one John. The Heritage Book Shop, the purveyor of this apparent rarity, reports that over the past fifty years they've only been able to find one book at auction with a drawing of Linus. Maybe so, but I would guess that Schulz, if he drew one, drew at least a few portraits of Linus in this particular title alone.
