Several rough cartoon sketches by
Lee Lorenz have sold quickly on eBay in recent months, but a few themes remain tough sells. Gag cartoons about cannibals and missionaries were once a staple of the
New Yorker and other magazines but today they seem racially insensitive, to say the least. This one was likely never published—no great loss. The eBay seller has inexplicably tacked the name Charles Addams onto the listing, perhaps recalling that artist's own series of cartoons on the now taboo subject.
