It's hard to believe that some people still can't rotate photographs, but the eBay seller offering a New Yorker original by cartoonist Henry Martin in 2015 presented three of the five photographs sideways. That would constitute an insult to potential online buyers under ordinary circumstances, but this is an especially wordy cartoon to be asked to ponder on one's side. I have taken the liberty of turning the three images upright, a little trick I learned in blogging school.
The original New Yorker art by gives us a glimpse into the king's diary, revealing his majesty's innermost thoughts. A low-key, introspective cartoon from 1984 remains delightful today, especially right-side-up.
