The Lady of the Lake: Charles Addams Original New Yorker Cover Art

Never mind the sword Excalibur; the Lady of the Lake has a more meaningful gift to bestow upon the weekend golfer. The original artwork to Charles Addams's final New Yorker cover has been released from the Tee & Charles Addams Foundation and is available from Taraba Illustration Art, LLC. For those who have always wanted an original New Yorker cover by Charles Addams, golfer or no, and for whom money is no object—don't all raise your hands at once—this a once in a lifetime opportunity. Incidentally, the winner of the Green Jacket at Augusta this weekend will get a $1.8 million purse, and one wonders if any of it could be put to better use than this.

April 9, 2017 Update:  And then there's this sobering thought:
Charles Addams, The New Yorker, November 5, 1964, page 66

August 31, 2019 Update:  Okay, one more.
Charles Addams, The New Yorker, July 26, 1958, page 19

Note:  The correct year of publication is 1988, not 1989, which means this cover saw publication in Mr. Addams's lifetime. Other pieces of original artwork by Charles Addams from The New Yorker and elsewhere were consigned by the Addams estate/Foundation to Swann Galleries and were sold in their March sale.
