The Years with Ross, James Thurber's memoir about the New Yorker's founding editor Harold Ross (1892-1951), was published in 1957. Two years later, the 64-year-old Thurber declined an interview with correspondent Renee Glaser, stating "it would be impossible, even within the next six months." He informed her that he had "been overwhelmed by requests which I have the spirit, but neither the time nor the strength, to accept." Thurber passed away in 1961. The letter to Miss Glaser was sold at Swann Galleries in 2005.
Note: Feel free to forward correspondence you may find scattered about the house from James Thurber or other New Yorker writers.
