The lucky cat, or maneki-neko, literally means beckoning cat in Japanese, although to a Westerner it appears to be waving. I encountered this friendly cat on my first trip to Mitsuwa Marketplace in Edgewater, New Jersey. Mitsuwa is the largest Japanese supermarket in the U.S. The video is my souvenir.
Note: This video actually appears nice and sharp on my iPhone 4S. I have no idea why it came to look so blurry here after uploading. This is one of many technical problems I have come across while trying to build a better blog.
