In 1947, illustrator Constantin Alajálov was recruited to create a print advertisement for the Aqueduct racetrack in Queens. The ad emphasizes how easy it is to get to the racetrack by train from Pennsylvania Station in Manhattan or from Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, while not-so-subtly suggesting that this would make a splendid afternoon out for any deliriously happy couple with a pair of binoculars and a long stride length.
