Constantin Alajálov's Portrait of a Young Girl

What I find interesting about this portrait by Constantin Alajálov is how much it differs from his commercial illustration. Many of his magazine covers have stylized faces that are essentially cartoons, albeit sophisticated ones. Here, in a portrait of a young girl that was not intended for reproduction, he focussed on creating an appealing and realistic image which presumably is also a good likeness.

The Eiffel Tower opened 125 years ago Tuesday. By now you should know I have a blog post for everything. Except Cinco de Mayo.
